Passive methods of nuclear safeguards determine the important parameters an unknown sample from statistics detection neutrons emitted item. These latter are due to spontaneous fissions and (α,n) reactions, enhanced by internal multiplication before leaking out. Based on original work Böhnel, methodology traditional multiplicity counting is based first three factorial moments number neutrons, one source event. “Böhnel moments” were derived in so-called “point model”, which no space-dependence accounted for, rather a uniform collision probability assumed for each neutron, irrespective position its birth velocity direction, and, more important, it be same all generations fission chain as neutrons. The purpose present derive one-speed space-dependent model, direction but (similarly Böhnel model), energy dependence assumed. integral equations solved numerically with expansion. It shown that compared calculations, unfolding method using point model underestimates fissile mass underestimation increases increasing both value α.
